PAK vs IND (Final Match) – Highlights

In front of a packed Dubai International Stadium, the stage was set for another chapter of the great India-Pakistan rivalry, this time in the final of the Asia Cup 2025. The clash lived up to its billing, offering high drama, memorable performances, and a thrilling chase. In the end, India held their nerves to script a famous five-wicket victory with two balls to spare, lifting the trophy on September 28.

PAK, asked to bat first, got off to a solid start thanks to Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman. The pair stitched together a commanding 84-run opening partnership, frustrating the Indian bowlers in the powerplay and beyond. Farhan, in particular, was the aggressor, scoring 57 off 38 balls with five fours and three sixes. Zaman provided steady support, crafting a 46-ball 35. At 113 for 2 in the 13th over, Pakistan looked primed for a total well above 170. However, what followed was a collapse that stunned the crowd.

IND spinners turned the tide, with Kuldeep Yadav producing a match-winning spell of 4 for 30. His dismissals included key scalps such as Saim Ayub, Captain Salman Agha, and a double strike in the 17th over that broke Pakistan’s backbone. Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy also played their part, chipping away with wickets. From 113 for 1, Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in just 19.1 overs. Apart from the openers, no batter crossed double digits, underlining how devastating India’s spin attack proved to be.

Chasing 147 under lights, India’s start was nothing short of a disaster. Within the first four overs, they were reeling at 20 for 3, as Faheem Ashraf struck twice, dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, while Shaheen Shah Afridi accounted for skipper Suryakumar Yadav. The Pakistan fans roared in anticipation, but India’s middle order had other plans.

Tilak Varma emerged as the hero of the night with an unbeaten 69 off 53 deliveries. Calm under pressure, the left-hander anchored the chase while picking his moments to attack, especially against the spinners. He found a reliable partner in Sanju Samson, who contributed 24 off 21 before falling to Abrar Ahmed. The partnership steadied India’s innings, taking them past the halfway mark with hopes alive.

The final twist came from Shivam Dube, who played a blistering 33 off 22 balls, smashing boundaries at crucial junctures. His dismissal in the 19th over left IND needing 13 runs off 9 balls, but Rinku Singh’s audacious boundary on his very first delivery sealed the deal. Varma fittingly hit the winning runs, etching his name into India’s rich history of memorable finals.

For PAK, Shaheen Afridi was economical with 1 for 20, while Faheem Ashraf’s 3 for 29 gave them hope. But Haris Rauf’s expensive spell, conceding 50 runs in 3.4 overs, cost Pakistan dearly. In the end, India’s composure under pressure and Kuldeep’s magical spell proved the decisive factors.
