NEP vs WI (2nd T20I) – Highlights

NEP continued their sensational run in the UAE as they dominated the WI in the 2nd T20I at Sharjah on September 29, 2025. Chasing a modest target, West Indies were never in the contest as Nepal posted a commanding 90-run victory, taking a significant 2-0 lead in the series. The win was powered by a masterful innings from Aasif Sheikh, whose unbeaten 68 guided Nepal to a competitive total and set the tone for an all-round performance by the hosts.

Electing to bat first, NEP got off to a shaky start with early wickets, as Kushal Bhurtel and captain Rohit Paudel departed cheaply, leaving the team at 14 for 2 within the first four overs. Kushal Malla added some resistance with a quick 7 runs, but it was the 17-year-old Sundeep Jora and Aasif Sheikh who turned the innings around.

Jora’s aggressive 63 off 39 balls injected much-needed momentum, striking five sixes in his innings and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Sheikh complemented him brilliantly, scoring at a brisk pace of 144.68, striking eight boundaries and two sixes to anchor Nepal’s innings. Mohammad Aadil Alam also contributed with a quick cameo of 11 off 5 balls, helping Nepal reach a challenging 173 for 6 in their 20 overs.

WI bowlers struggled to contain the hosts, with Kyle Mayers and Akeal Hosein picking up two wickets each, but they were expensive and ineffective in stemming the flow of runs. Jediah Blades managed to claim one wicket, but the overall bowling effort failed to create consistent pressure. Extras also played a role in Nepal’s total, with 10 wides adding to the West Indies’ woes.

Chasing 174, West Indies were completely dismantled by Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack. Mohammad Aadil Alam was the star with the ball, picking up four crucial wickets, while Kushal Bhurtel supported him with three key dismissals. Dipendra Singh Airee, Karan KC, and Lalit Rajbanshi chipped in with one wicket each. The visitors were restricted to just 83 for 10 in 17.1 overs, failing to cross the 100-run mark. Jason Holder’s 21 off 15 balls was the top score for West Indies, but it was too little too late, as the batting lineup crumbled under pressure.

The result highlighted Nepal’s growing prowess in T20 cricket, showcasing their depth in both batting and bowling. Aasif Sheikh’s match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award of the game, emphasising his influence in this impressive victory. With this performance, Nepal has firmly established itself as a competitive T20 side capable of taking on higher-ranked opponents.
