MI NY vs WSF (11th Match) – Highlights
In a high-voltage clash under the lights at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, WSF pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory over MI NY in the 11th match of the Major League Cricket 2025 season. The game ebbed and flowed until the very end, with both teams producing moments of brilliance, but it was Mitchell Owen’s unforgettable all-round performance that tilted the scales in Washington’s favor.
Batting first after losing the toss, MI NY put together a solid total of 188 for 4 in their 20 overs. Their innings was headlined by a fluent 55 from Quinton de Kock, who kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. Opening partner Monank Patel chipped in with a fiery 32 off just 20 balls, giving New York a blazing start. As the innings progressed, Nicholas Pooran anchored one end with 33, but it was Michael Bracewell who provided the final flourish.
His unbeaten 42 off 24 balls, laced with five boundaries and a six, pushed the total near the 190-mark. Despite the strong batting effort, Washington’s Mitchell Owen was a standout with the ball as well, conceding just 29 in his four overs and taking the important wicket of Monank.
Chasing 189 was never going to be easy, especially against the likes of Trent Boult and Naveen-ul-Haq. But Mitchell Owen returned to steal the spotlight again, this time with the bat. Walking in early after Rachin Ravindra fell cheaply, Owen went on a counter-attacking spree, smashing 60 off just 26 balls. His innings, filled with clean strikes—five boundaries and five sixes—put Washington well ahead of the asking rate and rattled the New York bowlers.
Even after Owen’s dismissal, the middle-order kept the scoreboard moving. Mark Chapman held things together with a well-paced 45 not out, while Jack Edwards and Glenn Maxwell played quick cameos to keep the chase alive. The run-out of Edwards and Maxwell’s dismissal by Boult created a few nerves in the Washington dugout, and MI New York sniffed a comeback when wickets began to tumble in the death overs.
With three overs to go and lower-order batters at the crease, Washington needed composure. Naveen and Boult struck late blows, and Rushil Ugarkar also chipped in, but a crucial boundary by Chapman in the penultimate over and a composed finish from Ian Holland sealed the deal. WSF reached 189 for 8 in 19.2 overs, winning with just four balls to spare in what turned out to be one of the most gripping finishes of the season so far.
Mitchell Owen, unsurprisingly, was named Player of the Match for his match-winning 60, a key wicket, and two catches in the field. His all-round heroics were the defining feature of a match filled with twists and momentum shifts.
