What Awaits Team India in a Jam-Packed 2025

IPL 2025 ends with a bang – RCB lifted the IPL trophy and all Virat Kohli fans everywhere around the world finally cheered (and I presume shed a tear or two). But before the victory champagne has even dried, cricket lovers have already turned their attention to what’s next for Team India. The razzmatazz of T20’s fireworks is waning, and the men in blue will get into the thick of the international calendar for the rest of 2025. They start swinging it in England, then face the Proteas at home – there are no quiet times to rest. So, what is ahead for Indian cricket?

A Summer of Swings: England Awaits with Five-Test Challenge

Just two weeks after the dust settles from the IPL, India is going headfirst into a proper five-match Test series in England. But this isn’t just another overseas tour—it’s a prestige tour. England’s conditions have always tested the patience, technique, and temperament of players, and this five-match series (they commence at Headingly on June 20 and finish at The Oval on August 4) in the upcoming weeks is key for Team India’s red-ball future.

Leeds, Birmingham, Lord’s, Manchester, London again – These aren’t just places, they’re cauldrons to make (or break) legends. And do not be surprised if Virat Kohli’s bat talks again in England, he is hungry to perform after getting the IPL winning monkey off his back.

From Test Whites to ODI Blues: Bangladesh and West Indies in the Mix

After visiting England, India will head to Bangladesh in August for three ODIs and three T20Is. You might think that while this is a short series, it is sort of a break. But, Bangladesh at home is certainly not a break. It will be an excellent chance to explore its young talent and to test new combinations on difficult subcontinent pitches, and ample time to finalize a pretty close squad before the challenges become bigger down the road.

The scheduling is fascinating. With three back-to-back ODIs (in Dhaka and Chattogram) and T20Is in both cities, this tour will be a test of consistency and adaptability. Look for rotation in both squads, but also look for players looking to put their hand up before larger tours.

White-Ball Mayhem Down Under & Home Turf Showdown with South Africa

In October, we moved Down Under and shifted gears with a white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and five T20Is from October 19 to November 08. This is not just a tour; it is also a critical examination of the depth of India’s squad before the 2026 T20 World Cup. Due to the fast pitches, the busy schedule, and the quality of opposition, it is a wonderful environment to test out combinations and develop new stars for the future.

But don’t blink, because straight after that, South Africa comes to India for a full Tour. Two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is across six venues means it’s a busy, but very entertaining home season. This December, from Delhi to Lucknow will feel like a mini-IPL with fans getting to see sweaty and entertaining action across all formats.

So, what’s the takeaway? India has to balance experience and youth. They can rest players like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, for some of the less important games along the way, while bringing in next-generation stars such as Rinku Singh or Yashasvi Jaiswal along the way.

So, what are you most excited about? Is it Virat Kohli’s opportunity for redemption in England? Are youngsters impressing Down Under? Or is it just seeing India reign supreme at home again? Let us know in the comments; one thing that we can be sure of is that there will be no shortage of things to talk about in Indian cricket.
