USA vs CAN (Match – 10) – Highlights

In the 10th match of the North America T20 Cup, Canada triumphed over the United States of America by 17 runs in a thrilling contest. Canada set a challenging target of 185, posting 184/7 in their 20 overs. Navneet Dhaliwal played a crucial role with the bat, scoring an impressive 68 runs off 41 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. In response, the United States fought hard but fell short, managing 167/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite some resistance, Canada’s bowlers held their nerve to secure the victory, maintaining a strong grip throughout the match.

In their innings, Canada posted a challenging total of 184/7 in 20 overs. Navneet Dhaliwal led the charge with a brilliant knock of 68 runs off 41 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes, at a strike rate of 165.85. Support came from Yuvraj Samra, who contributed 28 runs off 23 balls, and Shreyas Movva, who made 23 runs off 16 balls. Harsh Thaker’s explosive 21 off 9 balls helped push the total further, with a remarkable strike rate of 233.33. Despite some early wickets, lower-order contributions from Saad Bin Zafar (13 not out) and Kaleem Sana (6 not out) ensured Canada finished strong.

In their bowling effort, the United States of America struggled to contain Canada’s aggressive batting. Saurabh Netravalkar was the most successful bowler, picking up 2 wickets for 38 runs in his 4 overs, with an economy rate of 9.50. Yasir Mohammad also impressed, taking 3 wickets for 39 runs in his 4 overs, maintaining an economy rate of 9.75. Jasdeep Singh had a solid performance, conceding 25 runs in 4 overs and taking 1 wicket at an economical rate of 6.25. However, Ali Sheikh (42 runs in 4 overs) and Akhilesh Reddy (40 runs in 4 overs) went for runs, with no wickets to their names, as the team failed to stop Canada from posting a challenging total.

The United States of America’s chase of 185 runs was derailed by a combination of poor shot selection and tight bowling from Canada. Saiteja Mukkamalla got off to a quick start but fell to Harsh Thaker for 11 runs. Shayan Jahangir top-scored with 26 runs from 16 balls, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Monank Patel was run out for 15, and Milind Kumar was dismissed for 32. A late fightback came from Aaron Jones and Sanjay Krishnamurthi, with Jones scoring 17 and Krishnamurthi adding 24. However, the target proved too steep as Jaskaran Singh and Kaleem Sana shared the spoils with two wickets each, and the USA finished 17 runs short with a total of 167/8.

Canada’s bowling attack was clinical in their 17-run victory over the United States. Kaleem Sana and Jaskaran Singh were the standout bowlers, each picking up two wickets. Sana bowled economically, giving away just 35 runs in his four overs, while Jaskaran Singh, with his clever variations, kept the pressure on, conceding 34 runs. Harsh Thaker also made a significant impact, claiming two wickets for just 8 runs in his two overs, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.00. Sukhjinder Singh and Akhil Kumar chipped in with tight spells, while Saad Bin Zafar added to the pressure with his disciplined bowling. This well-rounded effort ensured Canada successfully defended their target.
