West Indies, electing to bat first, were restricted to a paltry 81/9 in 20 overs, struggling against a well-orchestrated English bowling attack. England’s Em Arlott was the standout performer, producing a match-winning spell of 3 for 14 in 4 overs, earning her the Player of the Match accolade and Cricinfo’s MVP with 70.18 points.
Lauren Bell, who opened the bowling, set the tone with an early breakthrough, dismissing Qiana Joseph in the first over. Nat Sciver-Brunt, leading from the front, took charge with an unbeaten 55 off just 30 balls, peppering the boundary with ten crisp fours and maintaining a strike rate of 183.33. She was ably supported by Sophia Dunkley, who remained not out on 24 off 25 deliveries.
The English pair stitched together a commanding 82-run unbeaten partnership for the second wicket, dismantling the West Indies bowling with ease. None of the visiting bowlers could contain the onslaught, with all six used bowlers conceding over six runs per over. Their fielding, too, was below par, allowing England to cruise to victory in just 9.2 overs.
With this dominant display, England Women underlined their superiority in the series. The hosts now have the opportunity to clinch the series outright in the third T20I, while West Indies Women must reassess their strategy to stay competitive.
