SCOT vs NEP (Match-06) – Highlights
Scotland showcased their batting prowess and bowling depth in a clinical 34-run triumph over Nepal in the 6th match of the T20I Tri-Series held in Glasgow on June 20, 2025. With this win, the hosts solidified their stature as serious contenders in the tournament, thanks to a sensational knock by George Munsey and a collective bowling effort.
Opting to bat first, Scotland made the most of favorable batting conditions, finishing with a formidable 193 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was spearheaded by the explosive George Munsey, who blazed his way to a breathtaking 78 off just 39 balls. His innings, laced with five fours and six towering sixes, laid the perfect foundation for a high-scoring total. Munsey took full advantage of the powerplay, dispatching the Nepalese bowlers to all parts of the ground before falling in the 13th over.
Brandon McMullen played a vital supporting role, scoring a fluent 42 off 30 deliveries. His partnership with Munsey steered Scotland past the 130-run mark before a brief middle-order stumble saw Richie Berrington, Finlay McCreath, and McMullen dismissed in quick succession. However, Michael Leask (26* off 17) and Matthew Cross (17* off 13) provided a late flourish, guiding Scotland to an imposing total.
Nepal’s bowling unit had mixed fortunes. Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was the most economical, conceding only 25 runs and taking a crucial wicket. Lalit Rajbanshi also bowled tidily and picked up one wicket for 27 runs. Kushal Bhurtel was surprised with the ball, grabbing 2 for 20 in his two overs, but overall, the bowling lacked penetration in the death overs, allowing Scotland to accelerate freely.
In response, Nepal’s innings began on a shaky note with the early loss of opener Kushal Bhurtel for 4 in the first over. Although Aasif Sheikh (14 off 7) showed some intent, a mix-up led to his untimely run out. Bhim Sharki, Rohit Paudel, and Aarif Sheikh got starts, but none could anchor the innings long enough to engineer a successful chase.
Dipendra Singh Airee contributed a hard-fought 34 off 33 balls in the middle overs, but lacked sustained support from the other end. The standout performance came from Rupesh Singh, who produced a late onslaught with a blazing unbeaten 43 off 22 deliveries, striking three sixes and a four to inject brief hope into the Nepalese camp.
However, the chase unraveled quickly after Airee’s dismissal, with the lower order collapsing under scoreboard pressure. Chris Greaves was instrumental with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs, while Safyaan Sharif delivered a tight spell of 2 for 7 in his two overs. As Scotland tightened their grip, Mark Watt and Michael Leask chipped in with a wicket apiece.
In the end, Nepal were bundled out for 159 in 18.5 overs, falling significantly short despite some resilient moments. With this victory, Scotland avenged their earlier loss to Nepal in the series and sent a strong message ahead of the final fixture. George Munsey was deservedly named Player of the Match for his scintillating innings that paved the way for Scotland’s triumph.
