SF vs SEO (16th Match) – Highlights

Under the night lights of Dallas on June 25, the SF flexed their dominance once again in the 16th match of Major League Cricket 2025, toppling the SEO by 32 runs. With their all-round firepower and tactical discipline, the Unicorns looked every bit the title contender as they produced a commanding display that outclassed the Orcas in every department.

Batting first, SF rode on a blistering start from skipper Matthew Short, who led from the front with a 29-ball 52. His knock, studded with seven boundaries and two sixes, provided the early acceleration and laid the groundwork for a competitive total. While the Unicorns lost Finn Allen early, Jake Fraser-McGurk chipped in with an attacking 34 from 21 balls. Just when calm threatened to settle, Romario Shepherd stormed in with a bat full of thunder and rewrote the ending. The powerful West Indian unleashed a storm with a fiery 56 off just 31 balls, clearing the ropes four times and smashing boundaries with ease, lifting his side to a solid 176 for 8.

Seattle’s bowlers had moments of control but lacked consistency. Harmeet Singh stood out with an economical 3 for 22 in his four overs, while Coetzee also claimed three wickets but leaked runs. Obed McCoy had a night to forget, getting hammered for 61 runs in his quota, as the Unicorns closed their innings at a strong run rate of 8.80.

Chasing 177, SEO began with promise. Wicketkeeper-batter Shayan Jahangir came out firing, scoring a rapid 40 off 22 balls with three sixes. But once he departed, the innings began to crumble. David Warner and Kyle Mayers followed quickly, and the backbone of Seattle’s batting was shattered by Matthew Short, who added three wickets to his name and tightened the screws in the middle overs with his disciplined spin.

Haris Rauf then stepped in to finish the job, bowling with pace and precision to pick up 4 for 32. He dismissed the key duo of Klaasen and Hetmyer at crucial junctures and ensured the Orcas never got back into the chase. Romario Shepherd returned with the ball to add two more scalps, capping off a brilliant all-round performance that earned him the Player of the Match award. Seattle eventually folded for 144 in 18.2 overs, falling well short of the target.

The win cemented San Francisco’s spot at the top of the table, while Seattle continued to struggle at the bottom. With brains, brawn, and a bit of Short’s strategic stardust, the Unicorns are blending flair with fury. For the Orcas, it’s back to the drawing board as their campaign now hangs by a thread.
