He carried his bat through the innings, ending on an unbeaten 102 off 57 balls with eight fours and six sixes to his name.
Though the middle order added only brief cameos—Hetmyer, Rutherford, and Powell all perished trying to maintain the aggressive tempo—West Indies still powered their way to a commanding 214 for 4. AUS bowlers had a tough night under the lights, with only Sean Abbott managing a respectable economy. Adam Zampa, Mitchell Owen, and Nathan Ellis picked up a wicket each, but all were punished heavily by the Caribbean hitters.
Chasing 215 on a sluggish surface is no small ask. But AUS decided to turn it into a highlight reel. Glenn Maxwell got the ball rolling with a manic 20 off just 7 balls before being run out. What followed was an astonishing exhibition of T20 brutality. David didn’t just rebuild the innings—he completely detonated the run chase. With Mitchell Owen for company, David unleashed a whirlwind of 11 sixes and 6 fours in his 37-ball century. His strike rate of 275.67 was almost cartoonish. The WI bowlers had no answers. Every time they pitched short, David pulled; when they pitched full, he lofted straight; and when they bowled wide, he carved it over the infield with clinical disdain.
Owen played the perfect supporting role, hammering 36* off 16 balls as the pair chased down the target in just 16.1 overs. The final scoreboard read 215 for 4—Australia winning with 23 balls to spare and firmly stamping their dominance on the series.
Tim David was rightfully named Player of the Match, a title he seized with a knock that might just be remembered as one of the most devastating T20I innings in recent memory.
