IND vs BAN (16th Match) Super Fours – Highlights

IND produced a commanding performance against BAN in the 16th Match of the Super Fours at Dubai, securing a 41-run victory and keeping their Super Fours campaign firmly on track. Batting first, India posted a competitive 168 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, largely thanks to a scintillating innings from Abhishek Sharma. The right-handed batter raced to 75 off just 37 balls, striking six fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 202.70. Sharma’s innings laid the foundation for India’s total and also showcased his ability to accelerate the scoring at crucial stages, turning the middle overs into a phase of dominance.

Shubman Gill provided solid support at the top, contributing 29 runs from 19 deliveries with a strike rate of 152.63 before falling to Rishad Hossain. Hardik Pandya’s cameo of 38 off 29 balls, featuring four boundaries, ensured IND maintained a strong momentum throughout the innings. Although the other batters contributed modestly, the innings was built on smart partnerships and aggressive stroke play. Extras, including two wides and a no-ball, added four runs to the total, highlighting India’s overall control in the batting department.

BAN chase began with promise as Saif Hassan anchored the innings with a well-paced 69 from 51 balls. He struck three boundaries and five sixes, maintaining a healthy strike rate of 135.29. However, he lacked sufficient support from the middle order. Parvez Hossain Emon chipped in with 21 runs, but quick dismissals of key batters like Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib kept Bangladesh on the back foot. India’s bowlers executed their plans perfectly, with Kuldeep Yadav taking three crucial wickets and Varun Chakravarthy claiming two, stifling the Bangladesh middle order.

Jasprit Bumrah was another standout with the ball, picking up two important wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs, while Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya provided tight overs that curtailed scoring opportunities. Despite Saif Hassan’s valiant efforts, Bangladesh could only manage 127 for 10 in 19.3 overs, falling short by 41 runs. India’s fielding was also impressive, with Abhishek Sharma taking two catches that further tilted the game in India’s favor.

The match highlighted India’s depth in both batting and bowling, demonstrating their ability to dominate across all departments. Abhishek Sharma’s all-round impact, combining explosive batting with crucial fielding contributions, earned him the Player of the Match award. This victory not only boosted India’s net run rate but also reinforced their credentials as strong contenders in the T20 Asia Cup 2025.
