TSK vs WSF (12th Match) – Highlights

In a match that felt more Fast & Furious than cricket, WSF slammed the gas pedal and never looked back at Texas’ towering total. The match had it all: a flying start from Washington, huge sixes, smart bowling spells, and an improbable finish. Mitchell Owen and Andries Gous combined for one of the best chases in MLC history.

Faf and Smit lit the fuse early, turning the powerplay into a highlight reel before the cameras could blink. While Smit gave the early push with 24 off 15 balls, it was Faf’s spectacular 69 off just 31 deliveries that set the tone. He unleashed eight boundaries and four sixes, racing to a strike rate of 222.58 before being dismissed in the 11th over. Contributions from Marcus Stoinis (32 off 24), Milind Kumar (31 off 18), and late fireworks from Shubham Ranjane (26 off 10) and Calvin Savage (15 off 8) powered Texas to a daunting 220 for 6 in their 20 overs.

WSF bowlers struggled for control in the face of relentless hitting. Mitchell Owen turned the game with a timely 3-wicket burst, including both openers and Ferreira, ending with impressive figures of 3 for 33. Glenn Maxwell and Rachin Ravindra chipped in with a couple of wickets, but most of the attack was taken to the cleaners as Texas piled on 220 at 11 runs per over.

Chasing 221 was always going to require something special, and Washington found their match-winner in an unlikely hero, Mitchell Owen. Fresh off his bowling heroics, the all-rounder turned up with the bat and smashed 89 off 52 balls, anchoring the innings with authority and flair. He struck eight boundaries and cleared the ropes five times, never allowing the required rate to balloon.

After losing Ravindra early for 11, Owen and wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous took command. Gous, who remained unbeaten on 84 from just 46 balls, played the perfect partner with smart rotation and timely power-hitting. His composure under pressure was remarkable, accelerating just when needed. Together, the pair stitched a 119-run stand that flattened Texas’s bowling plans.

Milne did the heavy lifting with figures of 4-0-42-3, but TSK bowling unit failed to rally around him. Noor Ahmad, Stoinis, and Ferreira all leaked runs in crucial overs, with Ferreira’s spell of 4-0-55-0 particularly damaging.

Glenn Maxwell added a fiery 20 off 12 before falling at a key juncture, but the required run rate was already under control. Phillips capped off the win with a monster six, silencing Texas and igniting scenes of joy in the Freedom camp.

This result sees Washington leapfrog Texas on the points table, with both teams showcasing their explosive potential. But questions will be raised over Texas’s death bowling options, which proved to be their undoing.
