MI NY vs SF (6th Match) – Highlights

In what looked like a T20 blockbuster, the San Francisco Unicorns lingered in their fresh form in the 2025 Major League Cricket winning by three wickets against MI New York at the Great Park Stadium in Oakland. The match, played on June 15 under the lights, had a ball of momentum shifts, exciting hauls, and pressure-unit bowling spells. To build the frenetic chase, it was Xavier Bartlett and Hassan Khan.

MI New York were put into bat first and posted a formidable total of 182 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Quinton de Kock, who blazed his way to 63 off 38 balls, including five boundaries and four towering sixes. His early partnership with Monank Patel laid a strong platform after the early loss of Agni Chopra. However, the middle order wobbled under pressure as Nicholas Pooran, Michael Bracewell, and Tajinder Singh failed to make big contributions. Kieron Pollard provided a late boost with a 16-ball 30, and Sunny Patel’s cameo of 20* off 11 helped NY breach the 180-run mark.

The overall score was significant, and the San Francisco Unicorns certainly made it hard work of the chase. The Unicorns lost a few early wickets with Finn Allen, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Sanjay Krishnamurthi all admitting defeat pre, post, and during the powerplay, respectively, leaving them 24 for 3 in a rather poor position. Tim Seifert was attempting to stabilize the innings with a run-a-ball 3,3 until he eventually exited in the 13th over, making the chase look all the more impossible.

What followed was a spectacular counterattack, led by the unlikely duo of Hassan Khan and Xavier Bartlett. Hassan Khan smashed a stunning 43 off just 17 deliveries, launching five sixes in a whirlwind knock that turned the tide of the match. His fearless hitting dismantled the New York spinners, especially targeting Michael Bracewell and Sunny Patel. After Khan’s dismissal, Bartlett carried on the charge with an equally devastating 59 not out off only 25 balls. His unbeaten innings featured four boundaries and five sixes, and his calm under pressure ensured that San Francisco crossed the finish line with five balls to spare.

Of the bowlers for MI New York, Naveen-ul-Haq was the best with two for 28 in his four overs. While Patel’s scalp was a key moment, Pollard’s 22-run over proved to be the match’s tipping point, swinging momentum the other way.

With this win, San Francisco Unicorns further solidified their position at the top of the points table. For MI New York, it was a case of missed opportunities with the ball, despite setting a strong total. Bartlett’s all-round display and Hassan Khan’s explosive cameo were the highlights of what will be remembered as one of the most exciting matches of the tournament so far.
