TSK vs MI NY (2nd Match) – Highlights

In a thrilling match in front of a jubilant crowd at Great Park Stadium in Oakland, the Texas Super Kings staved off a late challenge from MI New York to win the thrilling match by a total of three runs to win match two of the 2025 Major League Cricket season with quite the story line of significant hitting, some excellent fielding, and individual brilliance, that ended with a classic finish in the final over going down to the last ball.

Texas Super Kings, batting first, were anchored early by a classy and controlled effort from Devon Conway. The wicketkeeper-batter anchored the innings with a well-crafted 66 off 44 balls, blending intelligent strike rotation with timely power-hitting. Faf du Plessis supported with a quick 18, but wickets fell at regular intervals, including a mini-collapse in the middle overs that saw Mukkamalla, Mitchell, and Milind Kumar depart in quick succession.

Just when Texas looked like they might fall short of a competitive total, Calvin Savage turned the tide with a blazing unbeaten knock of 53 off just 34 deliveries. His late surge, laced with two fours and four sixes, gave Texas a huge boost at the death. Mohammad Mohsin chipped in with a brief cameo as the Super Kings finished at 185 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs. Michael Bracewell was the pick of the MI New York bowlers, returning figures of 2 for 34, while Ehsan Adil and Sunny Patel chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 186, MI New York were rocked early by Adam Milne, who dismissed both openers – Agni Chopra and Quinton de Kock – inside the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran failed to make an impact, falling to Noor Ahmad for just 6, which left New York reeling at 24 for 3.

Monank Patel and Michael Bracewell then launched a spirited counterattack. Monank anchored the innings with a fluent 62 off 44, showcasing an excellent array of shots, while Bracewell provided the fireworks with a quickfire 38. The pair added crucial momentum to the innings, but Milne returned to break the partnership and finish with superb figures of 3 for 22.

Kieron Pollard reignited the chase with a brutal 32 off 16 balls, but his run out at a key moment – orchestrated by a brilliant throw from Daryl Mitchell – proved decisive. As the chase tightened, Texas applied pressure with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding. Mohammad Mohsin bowled a tight spell and picked up a wicket, while Zia-ul-Haq and Noor Ahmad kept things under control despite not being among the top wicket-takers.

In the end, MI New York needed 14 off the final over and fell just short, managing only 182 for 8. Texas Super Kings held their nerve under pressure and registered their first win of the tournament in a match that showcased the depth and excitement of Major League Cricket.
