BER vs CAY (4th Match) – Highlights

George Town witnessed a lively encounter between BER and the CAY in the 4th match of the North America T20 Cup on April 20, 2025. Bermuda, after setting a modest yet competitive total of 137, outclassed the Cayman Islands with the ball and clinched a convincing 30-run victory to strengthen their position in the tournament.

Batting first after winning the toss, Bermuda’s top order showed intent despite not running away with the game. Captain Terryn Fray anchored the innings with a patient 38 off 40 balls, setting the platform with a steady start. His opening partner, Alex Dore, added some early momentum with a brisk 20 off 16 before falling leg-before to Adrian Wright. The innings had a stop-start rhythm as Jarryd Richardson and Delray Rawlins both got starts, but failed to convert them into big scores.

Rawlins, known for his aggressive intent, struck a couple of boundaries on his way to 27 off 20 before getting caught in the deep. But the real impact came from Dominic Sabir, whose late-innings cameo of 19* from just 12 balls gave Bermuda the finishing kick they needed. Allan Douglas chipped in with 13 before being cleaned up by Romario Edwards, who ended with figures of 2 for 24.

Although BER did not post a high total, they looked comfortable defending 137, and their bowlers backed it up superbly. CAY, chasing 138, lost early wickets and never recovered. Jermaine Baker made a valiant 54 off 51 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes to try and keep CAY in the game, but didn’t get any meaningful support from the other end.

Sacha De Alwis departed early, and although Akshay Naidoo spent some time at the crease, his 17 off 23 balls lacked the urgency the chase required. The real collapse came in the middle overs, with Sabir and Kevon Fubler running riot. Sabir claimed three wickets for just 14 runs, including the crucial scalp of Baker, while Fubler mirrored that feat with his own 3-wicket haul for 17 runs. In a chaotic spell between overs 13 and 16, Cayman lost six wickets for just 13 runs, turning the contest into a one-sided affair.

Captain Conroy Wright offered some late resistance with an unbeaten 21 off 20 balls, but the damage had been done. At the end of their innings, the Cayman Islands could only manage 107 for 8 in their 20 overs, well short of the target. Dominic Sabir was the rightful Player of the Match for an outstanding all-round performance – 3 wickets, and a useful 19 not out, which was vital at the end.
