Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s son is growing up following his father’s footsteps in football. In cricket, Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar is also becoming a twenty-two yard soldier like his father. Not only these two examples, there are countless examples in the world of sports where the son has followed the father’s path. Many athletes consider their children to be their successors. But in the case of Wasim Akram, the matter is different. His son Tehmur Akram did not follow his father’s path and became a fighter.
Akram’s son grew up in America since childhood. Due to which he did not have much affinity with cricket. Therefore, Tehmur could not be the successor of his father. Rather, he is now a different class of player, the amateur mixed martial artist. Recently, he was also seen fighting. Although unknown as of now, Tehmur’s dream is to one day become a professional and renowned MMA fighter.
Akram also talked about his son in an interview. He said that he gave his son full freedom to live. The Pakistani legend said, “Tehmur grew up in the air of America. Cricket is very rare there. Maybe that’s why he is on a different path now. But I have always told him to live his life as he wants. His dream is to be a fighter.”
It should be noted that Akram got married to Huma Mufti in 1995. The first child of their family is Tehmur. The little child who stepped into the world in 1996 is now growing up to be a fighter. Although the mother could not see the child’s success. Huma left the world in 2009. Apart from Tehmur, they have one more child. Akbar was born in 2006.
Akram is currently living with his wife Shaniera Thomson. He is also active in cricket. Although he left the twenty-two yard game long ago, this former pacer known as the ‘Sultan of Swing’ is holding the microphone in his hand. Apart from commentary, he also coached. Akram is currently in charge of Karachi Kings. And he has also taken more than 900 wickets in his cricket career.
