The Texas Super Kings (TSK) have been consistent throughout the 2025 Major League Cricket campaign, and fans are excited as we prepare for their 10th game against the Seattle Orcas. After a commanding 93-run victory over Seattle in their 7th game, TSK looks ready to carry this momentum into their next match. The playoffs hang on every game, and it will be important to get all the points you can in the standings. With that said, let’s look at what the predicted playing XI would look like based on prior performances in the season and potential game changers.
Openers
Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis have been the conventional opening batsmen for TSK, but in their last outing, they were a mixed bag: Conway only made 13 runs off 17, while du Plessis struggled for 7 runs. Nonetheless, their experience and ability to adapt to the conditions make them invaluable.
The way Conway plays is a good combination of waiting and aggression, and therefore is perfectly suited to creating the framework, whilst du Plessis offers the stability and leadership at the top of the order. I expect both to come out with a point to prove and to establish a decent platform for TSK.
Middle Order
The TSK middle order has been explosive and most notably when it came to the effects of Saiteja Mukkamalla and Marcus Stoinis. Mukkamalla showed that ideally if the situation called for it he could be counted on to strike when they needed to, where he made 30 runs off 23 balls with three boundaries and two sixes at over a strike rate of 130, while Stoinis’ prowess as an explosive batsman was evident again, making a quick fire 28 runs off 12 balls at an incredible strike rate of 233.33, with four clearances.
In short, as good as the TSK middle order was, when it comes to Mukkamalla and Stoinis, having players at the top and in the middle order is crucial whether chasing or setting a good score to defend. Going off TSK’s recent outings, it appears that Mukkamalla and Stoinis will provide an aggregate of at minimum of 45 runs and lead either through anchor or pointing players along targeting certain bowlers.
All-Rounders
TSK has the outstanding pair of Daryl Mitchell and Milind Kumar, who provide valuable contributions with bat and ball. Mitchell played a sensible innings of 25 runs from 26 balls and provided economical overs as an off-spin bowler, and even Milind Kumar, who was not out on 18 runs off 13 balls, showed that when required, he can play a well-structured innings to finish the game, scoring at an optimum pace.
Although both players are flexible within the group, they allow the captain to experiment with batting order, bowling combinations, and provide a breakthrough option when it is needed. Both players’ performances were important role players they converted them into a very important game-changer for TSK.
Bowlers
The batting collapse for Seattle came as Zia-ul-Haq and Nandre Burger turned up the heat with the ball. Zia-ul-Haq was deserving of his Player of the Match award with his 3 wickets for 16 runs from 3 overs at an economy of 5.33. He showed excellent control and aggression against Seattle by striking early and putting the opposition on the back foot.
Burger was also excellent with 3 wickets for 10 in 3.5 overs at an impressive economy of 2.60, both bowlers stepped up to break the back of the Seattle middle order. Both bowlers bowl with good pace and edge and consistent accuracy with well-disguised variations, and were the key wicket-takers for TSK in this important match.
