Delhi Capitals had a season that left fans feeling a bit “what if?” in IPL 2025. They kicked off strong but stumbled in the latter half, finishing fifth with 7 wins from 14 games. That’s decent, but not the playoff run DC fans were hoping for. Now, with the trading window about to open and a mini-auction looming, it’s time for some smart squad reshuffling. If DC wants to come back stronger in 2026, they should look beyond their own backyard. Here are three players from other teams who could be the perfect fit to plug some key gaps, starting with none other than Sam Curran.
Sam Curran: The Finisher DC Has Been Missing
One glaring issue for Delhi was the lack of a dependable finisher. While Tristan Stubbs did a decent job, relying on young guns like Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam to close games was a bit risky, and it showed. When skipper Axar Patel moved up the order, someone else had to step up at the death. Enter Sam Curran.
Curran only played five games for Chennai Super Kings this season but made a big impact when given the chance, smashing a fiery 88 in one match. He brings the perfect blend of experience, power-hitting, and handy bowling—just what DC needs to steady the ship in those nail-biting final overs.
Rumors are swirling that CSK might release him, especially since he didn’t return for the back end of the season. If that happens, DC should pounce immediately. Pairing Curran with Stubbs at the death could finally give Delhi the strong finishers they’ve been missing.
Kuldeep Sen: The Raw Pace to Fix DC’s Death Bowling Woes
Death bowling was a weakness for DC this season. Mukesh Kumar took 12 wickets but had an economy of over 10, and Mohit Sharma didn’t have the worst form. Delhi needs a bowler who bowls fast, takes wickets, and keeps runs down at the end of a match.
Kuldeep Sen could fit the bill. He sat on the bench mostly at Punjab Kings, but his numbers look pretty good — 14 wickets in 12 games would not blow you away, and 9.63 (economy) would not either, but 14 wickets show he can take wickets and still keep it tight. He is an aggressive, raw-fast pacer that brings that aggression and firepower into DC’s bowling attack while keeping some control.
If Delhi can grab him in the trading window, Sen could be the perfect candidate to partner with their existing pace battery and finally put an end to those expensive death overs.
Rachin Ravindra: The Next-Gen Opener Ready to Step Up for DC
41, Faf du Plessis 202 runs at an average of 22.44 in IPL 2025 underline that impact is dwindling and, in turn, the Delhi Capitals should be commencing the search for a younger, more explosive opener to eventually lead the charge.
Rachin Ravindra, the eye-catching New Zealand left-hander, showed glimpses of promise for CSK with 191 runs in eight innings at an average of 27.28. Not a blockbuster season, but encouraging given that he is still young and has the tools to flourish.
A right-left opening combo of KL Rahul and Ravindra would give DC the perfect balance and variety to unsettle bowlers early on. If CSK decides to release Ravindra after his inconsistent season, DC should be ready to snap him up and invest in a bright future at the top of the order.
If DC plays their cards right during the trading window, these three moves could transform their fortunes and push them deep into the playoffs in 2026. So, Delhi fans, what do you think? Who else should DC target to complete their winning puzzle?
