PAK vs UAE (5th Match) – Highlights
In 5th Match at Sharjah during the UAE T20I Tri-Series, PAK secured a convincing 31-run victory over the United Arab Emirates in the fifth match of the tournament. A rapid innings from Fakhar Zaman carried Pakistan to a total of 171 for 5. Fakhar, displaying his characteristic aggression, remained unbeaten on 77 off just 44 deliveries, striking ten boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 175.
His innings laid a solid foundation and gave PAK the momentum needed to put the UAE under pressure in the chase. Supporting him, Mohammad Nawaz played a quick cameo of 37 not out from 27 balls, further boosting the team’s total with three fours and two sixes. Early contributions from Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, and Salman Agha helped Pakistan get off to a steady start, although wickets fell at regular intervals.
The UAE bowlers had moments of brilliance, but they were largely unable to contain Pakistan’s strong batting lineup. Haider Ali was the pick of the bowlers for the UAE, taking two crucial wickets for just 17 runs in his four overs. Both Rohid and Parashar chipped in with a wicket, yet their costly overs tilted the game away from the UAE. Pakistan’s innings highlighted their ability to recover from early setbacks, with Zaman anchoring the innings while the lower-middle order accelerated toward the end.
Chasing 172, the UAE struggled to keep up with the required run rate despite a valiant effort from Alishan Sharafu. Sharafu anchored the UAE’s batting effort, crafting 68 off 51 balls laced with four fours and four sixes. His innings offered hope at one stage, but the lack of support from the other end meant the UAE could never build sustained partnerships.
Muhammad Waseem, the UAE captain, managed only 19 from 19 balls, while the rest of the batting lineup faltered under pressure. Abrar Ahmed emerged as the star of the match for Pakistan, claiming four crucial wickets for just nine runs in his four-over spell, dismantling the UAE middle order and effectively ending any hopes of a successful chase. His performance earned him both the Player of the Match and Cricinfo’s MVP accolades, reflecting his dominance with the ball.
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz also made important contributions with the ball, taking one wicket each and maintaining control over the scoring rate. UAE’s lower order tried to stabilize the innings, but wickets fell at critical moments, preventing any meaningful fightback. In the end, Pakistan’s balanced performance with both bat and ball was enough to secure a well-deserved win, showcasing their depth and skill in the T20 format.
