UAE vs PAK (2nd Match) – Highlights
Pakistan produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat the United Arab Emirates by 31 runs in the 2nd match of the UAE Tri-Series at Sharjah. Electing to bat first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 207, thanks to a breathtaking display of power hitting from Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz. Chasing 208, the UAE managed 176 for eight in their 20 overs, falling short despite a valiant effort from Asif Khan, who scored a blistering 77 off 35 balls.
An early blow hit PAK when Siddique sent Farhan back for eight runs in the very first over. However, Saim Ayub anchored the innings with a stunning 69 off 38 deliveries, peppering the field with seven fours and four sixes. His knock was complemented by Hasan Nawaz, who smashed 56 from just 26 balls at a strike rate of 215, including six towering sixes. Mohammad Nawaz also played a quickfire cameo of 25 runs off 15 balls, helping Pakistan reach a challenging total. Fakhar Zaman and Salman Agha struggled to get going, contributing six and five runs respectively, but the middle order’s firepower ensured Pakistan maintained a healthy run rate of over 10 runs per over. Extras added nine more runs, further boosting the total to 207.
UAE’s bowling attack was competitive at times, with Junaid Siddique claiming three wickets for 49 runs and Saghir Khan also taking three for 44. Haider Ali’s two wickets helped provide some control in the middle overs, but the Pakistani batters were able to consistently find boundaries, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a rapid pace. Muhammad Jawadullah bowled economically but lacked the breakthroughs needed to stem the flow of runs.
Chasing a daunting target of 208, the UAE’s innings never gained real momentum despite some early promise. Muhammad Zohaib scored 13, and captain Muhammad Waseem added 33, but the standout performer for the visitors was Asif Khan. His 77 from 35 balls included six sixes, showcasing his attacking intent, but he lacked consistent support from the other batters. Rahul Chopra contributed 11, and Dhruv Parashar made 15, yet the UAE struggled against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack.
PAK bowlers were clinical in executing their plans. Hasan Ali emerged as the pick of the bowlers, claiming three crucial wickets for 47 runs, including dismissals of key UAE batters like Ethan D’Souza and Asif Khan. Mohammad Nawaz picked up two wickets for just 21 runs, keeping the pressure on throughout the innings. Saim Ayub, in addition to his brilliant batting, also chipped in with a wicket for six runs from two overs, earning him the Player of the Match and the series MVP. In his four-over spell, Salman Mirza added another wicket to the UAE’s tally. The UAE couldn’t match Pakistan’s mix of firepower and precision, as they went down by 31 runs.
