PBKS vs RR (59th Match) – Highlights

What a game in Jaipur! Punjab Kings held their nerve to beat Rajasthan Royals by 10 runs in a cracking IPL 2025 Match 59. After a commanding batting performance, PBKS held their nerve with a composed bowling effort—led by Harpreet Brar—to keep their playoff hopes alive. Despite a spirited late push from RR, they fell just short in a high-stakes, edge-of-the-seat contest. What a game!

Batting first, Punjab Kings piled on an imposing total of 219 for 5 in their 20 overs. Despite early jitters — losing Priyansh Arya and Mitchell Owen cheaply — the innings was stabilized and ignited by Nehal Wadhera. The left-hander’s scintillating knock of 70 off 37 balls, laced with five fours and five towering sixes, was the backbone of Punjab’s innings. He stitched a crucial stand with skipper Shreyas Iyer, who added 30, before Shashank Singh exploded late in the innings with a breathtaking 59* off just 30 deliveries. His acceleration in the death overs, supported by a cameo from Azmatullah Omarzai (21* off 9), lifted Punjab well past the 200-mark.

There was no bite to the Rajasthan bowling attack, their pace bowlers all guilty of leaking runs at every stage of the innings, and while Tushar Deshpande did take two wickets, he, along with Akash Madhwal and Fazalhaq Farooqi, did little to slow down the scoring. Even the veteran Wanindu Hasaranga couldn’t stem the flow, finishing wicketless and going at more than 11 an over.

Rajasthan Royals began their chase of 220 in explosive fashion, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 off 25) and debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi (40 off 15) smashing 76 runs in just 4.5 overs. Everything changed when Harpreet Brar entered the attack, ripping through the top order with 3 for 22, dismissing both openers and Riyan Parag. His tight spell in the middle overs stalled the Royals’ charge and rightly earned him the Player of the Match award.

Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel tried to rebuild the innings, but regular wickets dented Rajasthan’s momentum. Jurel’s fighting 53 off 31 kept their hopes alive till the end, but his dismissal in the 20th over effectively ended the contest. With 20 needed off the final over and two new batters at the crease, Punjab closed it out comfortably to seal a much-needed win.

It was a tough outing for Arshdeep Singh as he leaked 60 runs in his four overs for Punjab.Still, with Brar, Jansen, and Omarzai chipping in with two wickets each, Rajasthan Royals struggled to keep pace in the chase and remained a step behind throughout.

This win takes Punjab higher in the standings, while Rajasthan — already reeling at the bottom — continues to search for answers in a season full of disappointments. The match, packed with boundaries, sixes, and moments of brilliance, was a perfect showcase of IPL’s high-octane drama.
