Zimbabwe will square off against South Africa in the final of the T20I Tri-Series 2026 at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek on September 6. The Chevrons booked their place in the summit clash after finishing the league stage strongly, defeating Namibia by five wickets in their final match and then relying on South Africa’s victory over the hosts to qualify for the decider.
Sikandar Raza’s side produced an impressive chase against Namibia, successfully hunting down 157 in only 18.1 overs. Innocent Kaia was the star of the show, smashing 72 off 42 deliveries, while Raza contributed 29 from 24 balls. Ryan Burl and Tadiwanashe Marumani then completed the chase after Zimbabwe lost a couple of wickets in quick succession.
Zimbabwe are unlikely to make too many changes to the combination that delivered such an important victory.
Here is Zimbabwe’s predicted XI for the final against South Africa:
1. Brian Bennett
Brian Bennett is expected to retain his place at the top of the order. The explosive right-hander has been an important part of Zimbabwe’s T20I setup and provides an attacking option during the powerplay.
Bennett scored 22 off 17 balls against Namibia and will be keen to make a bigger contribution in the final. His ability to take on the new ball could be crucial against South Africa’s pace attack.
2. Ben Curran
Ben Curran should continue alongside Bennett at the top. The left-hander has shown that he can provide an aggressive start and will be looking to establish a partnership against South Africa.
Curran made only five off three balls in the previous match, but his ability to find boundaries early makes him a dangerous player if he gets set.
3. Innocent Kaia
Innocent Kaia is the obvious player to watch after his match-winning performance against Namibia.
The right-hander smashed eight fours and three sixes during his 72 off 42 balls, producing a strike rate of more than 170. His innings helped Zimbabwe chase down the target comfortably and earned him the Player of the Match award.
With confidence high, Kaia could play another important role against South Africa.
4. Wesley Madhevere
Wesley Madhevere is likely to retain his place at No. 4 despite being dismissed for a duck in the previous game.
The all-rounder offers Zimbabwe an additional bowling option and has enough experience to recover quickly from a low score. His ability to contribute in both departments makes him an important part of Raza’s plans.
5. Sikandar Raza (C)
Captain Sikandar Raza will continue to occupy a central role in the Zimbabwe lineup.
Raza scored 29 off 24 balls against Namibia and also contributed with the ball earlier in the tournament. He has the experience to manage the pressure of a final and will be particularly important against a South African side packed with young but highly talented players.
His tactical decisions could prove decisive.
6. Ryan Burl
Ryan Burl should retain his position in the middle order. The left-handed all-rounder finished unbeaten on 12 off 10 balls in the chase against Namibia, including a six that helped Zimbabwe close out the match.
Burl also provides Raza with a useful leg-spin option, giving Zimbabwe additional flexibility in the middle overs.
7. Tadiwanashe Marumani (WK)
Tadiwanashe Marumani is expected to continue as the wicketkeeper-batter.
The left-hander remained unbeaten on 13 off 12 balls against Namibia and finished the chase alongside Burl.
His ability to attack spin and provide quick runs lower down the order gives Zimbabwe useful batting depth.
8. Brad Evans
Brad Evans should retain his place as one of Zimbabwe’s key seam-bowling all-rounders.
He was impressive with the ball against Namibia, finishing with figures of 2/29 from four overs. Evans’ ability to bowl hard lengths and contribute useful runs makes him a valuable player in the XI.
Against South Africa’s aggressive batting lineup, his role could become even more important.
9. Wellington Masakadza
Wellington Masakadza is likely to continue as the left-arm spin option.
The experienced spinner bowled two overs against Namibia and will provide Raza with another way of controlling the middle overs. His matchup against South Africa’s left-handed batters could be particularly interesting.
10. Blessing Muzarabani
Blessing Muzarabani should spearhead Zimbabwe’s pace attack.
The tall fast bowler brings bounce and pace to the bowling unit and can trouble South Africa’s batters with his steep deliveries. He took one wicket in the previous match and will have a significant role with the new ball and at the death.
11. Kundai Matigimu
Kundai Matigimu is expected to complete the bowling attack after an impressive outing against Namibia.
The right-arm seamer picked up two wickets for 31 runs from his four overs, including the important dismissal of Zane Green. His ability to attack the stumps and vary his pace gives Zimbabwe another useful option.
